We want people to live their lives to the fullest without having the constant feeling of fear and uncertainty in the back of their heads. That’s why we have come up with a list of our favorite ways to deal with anxiety. Use these tips to help you manage it anywhere anytime!

4 Ways to Deal With Anxiety

1. Visualize a Positive Outcome

More often than not, people get anxiety due to the fear of a negative outcome. This can come from being pulled over in their car, having a meeting at work, or really anything that could go bad. Even if there is no clear reason to be anxious, they can’t help but panic.

But what if the situation turns out to have a positive outcome? A simple but amazing way to help deal with anxiety is to interrupt it with a positive thought. “What if this goes well?” and “What if it works out?” are powerful ways to interrupt anxiety.

Just the idea of a positive outcome can be enough to help lower or keep the feeling of anxiousness in check.

Next time you are worried about any situation, stop yourself and your anxiety by saying “What if it goes well?”

2. Exercise

For years now, there has been a proven link between exercise and anxiety management.

Recent studies have found that something as little as a 10-minute walk will help someone with anxiety relax and gain better control over the situation.

Scientific and psychological research has also found that people who exercise regularly are less likely to suffer from anxiety, and have better control over it when they begin to suffer from it.

If someone is struggling with anxiety, one of the best ways to help them is to get them to exercise. Like previously stated, it doesn’t need to be something radical, just a simple walk will help greatly.

At Pure Recovery California, we know how much of a positive impact fitness can have on someone, which is why we work an exercise routine into all of our treatment programs.

3. Focus on Your Breathing

Few things feel as good as a deep breath. It just helps you get all the bad energy out of your body and take in that refreshing feeling. Due to this, deep breathing helps deal with anxiety.

When someone begins to get anxious, they take shallow breaths, which in turns worsens the situation. By pausing and focusing on a few deep breaths, anxiety will be noticeably and immediately relieved.

While this isn’t the be all end all cure and gets rid of it completely, breathing will help you relax and take a moment to collect yourself.

If you ever find anxiety building up in you and feel like a volcano, take a moment to take a deep breath. Give yourself a moment to breathe and collect yourself.

4. Meditation

Nothing soothes the mind quite like meditation. When this practice comes to helping someone with anxiety, there is good news and amazing news.

The good news is that meditation has been proven to help calm anxiety.

The great news is that if someone with an anxiety disorder regularly meditates, they will slowly become less anxious. This is due to meditation having an extremely calming effect on the mind.

People suffering from anxiety showed remarkable improvement after just four 20-minute-long meditation centers. Best of all, meditating can be done anywhere! You don’t need anything special but yourself and a quiet place to do it!

After seeing the research we have decided to incorporate meditation into all our recovery programs. Mental rehabilitation is just as important as the body.

Anxiety doesn’t have to control your life, it’s completely manageable. Through exercise, meditation, breathing, and focusing on positive outcomes, anyone to bring the anxiety that plagues them to heel.
